INSTRUCTIONS TO CONTRIBUTORS

Editorial Policy:

The Department’s aim in publishing the ACCOUNTING AND MANAGEMENT REVIEW (AMAR) is to provide a forum for debate and discourse on research findings as well as current thoughts and best practices in the general area of business but, in particular, accounting, audit, taxation, finance, management, economics, banking, etc.

The Journal welcomes articles which report research findings or discuss comparative approaches to business practices, accounting, audit, taxation, finance and contemporary issues and problems. The contributors are expected to be research scholars, accounting practitioners and management officers seeking to extend the horizon of knowledge. The readership will comprise academics, students, practising accountants, managers and general public.

Manuscripts submitted are normally subjected to detailed blind review before acceptance for publication. However, authors take responsibility for submitting materials of acceptable standard. Manuscripts which fail to meet this standard are subject to outright rejection.

Manuscript Format:

Manuscripts should be typed in 12-point Ariel font and on good quality A4 paper. Length of text should not exceed 5,000 words (excluding references). They should be typed double-spaced on one side of the page only, margin-spaced 2.7cm on all sides. The first page should show the title of the papers, author’s name, title and affiliation, postal and email address, as well as any acknowledgements. In nowhere else should the author’s name appear in the paper.

Abstract:

Each manuscript should have an abstract of not more than 250 words. The abstract should be followed by five key words that will assist in indexing the paper.

Documentation (footnotes and references):

Citations within the text: Works cited within text should be referenced as follows: author(s) last name(s) and date, followed wherever possible page number (all within parenthesis), e.g. (Handel, 1980, 40). Acronyms or short titles such as BIU, ICAN, ACCA, AICPA, CIMA, CIPFA, may serve in place of full institutional titles, e.g., (BIU, 2020).

  • References should be on a separate page at the end of the paper and should be presented using American Psychological Association (APA) style 7thedition, thus-
    • Surname(s) or author(s) in alphabetical sequence.
  • Followed by author(s)’ initials (in place of their proper names).
  • Date of publication in brackets immediately after the author(s) name(s).
  • Full titles of journals or books in italics.
  • Place or publication, name or publisher.
  • Volume, number and page number (where applicable). Volume number should be in italics, number within brackets and page number.

  1. Quotations:

Short direct quotations or verse should be incorporated into the text in double quotation marks. If quotations are more than 6 lines, they should begin on a new line, indented with single spacing and without quotation marks.

Assessment/ Review:

Each manuscript is assessed by two independent reviewers. Contributors may be requested to make extensive revisions if their material is otherwise considered worthy of publication. Authors will normally be notified of the outcome of their submissions within four (4) weeks of their submission.

To aid the review process, articles sent to the Journal should be accompanied with assessment fee of N5,000 (Five thousand naira) and submitted to the Secretary to the Editorial Board of the Journal at the following address:

Publication Fee:

Upon the acceptance of articles, the authors would be required to pay the sum of N30,000 (Thirty thousand naira only) for publication charges and a copy of the journal. Extra copies would attract additional charges of N5,000.
